Statute of Limitations Defended

Zelman & Hanlon represents three people who claimed they were abused by a local Catholic Priest

Two men and woman came forward to claim they were abused by a former Catholic priest who was at St. Ann Catholic Church for one year in the mid 1970's. Their claims coincided with complaints in two other parishes against the same former priest.

Zelman & Hanlon represented these courageous people, now nearly 40 years old, in suits against the former priest and the Archdiocese that moved him to Naples after a complaint was made against him at another church.

Zelman & Hanlon had to defend against arguments that the suits ought to be barred by the Statute of Limitations. The victims did not come forward and file suit for more than 25 years after the alleged abuse occurred. The suits were successfully settled. Naples Daily News and Associated Press articles describing these cases can be found here.
